The purpose of the "Yard of the Month" contest is to provide incentive for residents to maintain and improve the appearance of our community by promoting well-kept yards. One winner each month will proudly display the Green Valley Ranch "Yard of the Month" sign in their yard. A picture of the winning yard will also be posted on the GVRHOA website. You can nominate a neighbor by contacting any board or covenant committee member by phone, email or via the GVRHOA website.
Yards should have a healthy lawn and/or xeriscaping that is neatly maintained, mowed and edged, along with with pruned and trimmed shrubs and trees. Plants should be healthy and free of weeds, with the yard or xeriscaped areas free of debris and clutter. The yard should have overall aesthetic appeal, which is an inspiration to others in the neighborhood.
One yard will be selected each month, May through September. Each yard will be limited to winning the contest only once in any calendar year. Since the judges will mainly deal with "curb appeal", only the front yard as viewed from the street will be judged. Backyards will not be considered, even if visible from the street. Current GVRHOA Board members and voting members of the GVR Covenant Committee are not eligible. The winner must be in good standing with the GVRHOA.
Anyone in the neighborhood can nominate qualified selections. Members of the GVR Covenant Committee will vote and select the Yard of the Month based on the nominations received. A Yard of the Month sign will be placed in the winning yard and can remain for the entire month!
